This Día De Los Muertos, EnviroVoters wants to honor two women who passed in 2023 and whose contributions to the environmental justice movement have been deeply impactful for the communities they served and beyond.

Día De Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a holiday largely celebrated by people of Mexican heritage, and is meant to unite the dead with the living every year on November 1 and 2.

Ofrendas (offerings) are created with bright yellow marigold flowers and photos of the departed in order to honor those who have passed. This year, we wanted to create a virtual ofrenda in order to honor Cindy Montañez and Gloria Molina, two environmental justice changemakers who passed in 2023.
