LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to tonight’s U.S. Senate debate. The four California candidates invited to participate in the debate, U.S. Representatives Adam Schiff, Katie Porter and Barbara Lee and businessman Steve Garvey, discussed their visions for protecting Californians from the climate crisis.

“Polling shows that California voters across party lines and demographics want their government leaders to prioritize protecting them from catastrophic fires, drought, extreme heat, flooding, drought, and pollution. While there were some very strong moments in tonight’s debate, overall, we are hoping for a stronger vision and commitment around the opportunity of climate action to grow our economy, to increase health outcomes, and to address inequities. It is the responsibility of our leaders to figure out how to find the transition to a better future for all Californians. Climate justice is at the center of solving these intersectional problems that plague our states.”
