LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to the three major fires devastating Southern California.
Statement from Matt Abularach-Macias, Deputy Campaigns Director, California Environmental Voters:
“As wildfires rage across California, destroying dozens of homes and displacing thousands, we are once again reminded of the devastating toll the climate crisis is taking on our state. Triple-digit temperatures fueled these extreme fires, making them more intense and harder to contain.
These fires underscore the urgent need for bold action to protect Californians from climate impacts. This November, voters have the critical opportunity to vote for Prop 4, a $10 billion climate and resilience package on the ballot with $1.5 billion dedicated to wildfire prevention and protection. This funding is vital to strengthening emergency response infrastructure and ensuring communities are better prepared for future fires.
$1.5 billion for wildfire protection is not just an investment in fire resilience—it’s an investment in the safety of millions of Californians. The devastation caused by these wildfires highlights the costs of inaction. Without these investments, our most vulnerable populations will continue to bear the brunt of climate disasters.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
