SACRAMENTO, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to Assembly and Senate Appropriations Committee hearings, where an overwhelming majority of EnviroVoters’ priority support bills, including SB 905, SB 954, SB 1259, AB 2313, and AB 2253 advanced, while SB 601, SB 1075 and AB 946 failed passage. The remainder of EnviroVoters’ priority bills will have their final votes in the Assembly and Senate by August 31st.

“The Senate and Assembly took important steps today, advancing critical legislation that protects communities from highly polluting industrial projects, helps households transition to cheaper and cleaner energy, supports communities when oil refineries are set to close, and holds corporations accountable for misleading consumers. At the same time, failing to restore California’s clean water protections three years after the Trump Supreme Court gutted federal protections that prevent corporations from polluting our streams and rivers is out of step with voters. Polls show Californians want their representatives to invest in a healthy, resilient, and affordable future, and falling short on advancing our state’s 30×30 goals and protecting our air by cutting emissions is out of line with what they’re demanding. The Assembly and Senate can step up to the plate, like they have in the past, by getting today’s wins across the finish line.”
