Statement from Mary Creasman, CEO, California Environmental Voters:

“We have the opportunity to re-elect and send a new class of climate champions to fill the halls of Sacramento and D.C. this November. California is plagued by escalating extreme wildfires, historic droughts, and record heat. We need elected officials who will fight for climate solutions, stand up to corporate polluters, transition our economy to clean energy, and protect our frontline communities. It is critical we elect climate justice majorities and we are proud to endorse these leaders who will shape the future of California.

Big Oil and other polluting industries are working to buy this election and we simply can’t squander the chance to elect real climate leaders who will stand up to the special interests fueling catastrophic climate change. They are the difference between a U.S. Congress and State Legislature that delivers climate solutions to our communities and the alternative–a government that protects Big Oil. That is why it is so crucial we win these climate justice races. We cannot afford to let polluting industries control our democracy.

It should be invigorating to us all to have so many climate champions on the ballot this midterm election. It is time we reimagine our state and elect a more sustainable and just future for all Californians.”

California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
