SACRAMENTO, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to the Legislature sending SB 954, AB 40, AB 1448, AB 2313, and AB 2253 to the Governor’s desk. The final day for the Legislature to pass bills is August 31.

“While the federal government dismantles climate protections and doubles down on catering to corporations and expensive, unhealthy, dirty energy, California lawmakers have taken important steps to move the state towards health, safety, and cost reduction. So far, the Legislature has advanced measures to close a dangerous loophole for Big Tech developers, fight back against Trump’s plan to transport coal through California, support homeowner’s right to choose clean appliances, limit new offshore oil drilling, strengthen protections for communities around drilling sites, and stop plastics corporations’ recycling lies. These measures show what’s possible when California chooses community, environmental protection, and cleaner, safer, more affordable energy solutions. But there are still a few days left in session with critical bills still waiting to be voted on. We need lawmakers to keep pushing and the Governor to be ready to finish the job when those bills reach his desk.”
