AB 1346 – Assembly Natural Resources
Zero Emission Lawn and Garden Equipment
AB 1346 supports the transition to zero-emissions for gas powered lawn and garden equipment, such as leaf blowers. Smog-forming emissions from these small engines actually surpass those from passenger vehicles. For example, operating the best-selling gas-powered commercial leaf blower for one hour emits air pollutants comparable to driving a 2017 Toyota Camry from Los Angeles to Denver. This bill would require CARB to adopt regulations to prohibit engine exhaust from new small off-road engines by 2024 and to provide rebates and incentive funding to support the transition.
