AB 2875 – Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee

No Net Loss of Wetlands

This bill codifies the 1993 Executive Order that California ensures the no net loss of wetlands, affirming it is the duty of California to strive for a net gain. With the recent Supreme Court decision in Sackett v. EPA, the fate of wetlands is uncertain due to the loss of federal protections. This bill confirms California’s commitment to protecting our last remaining wetlands and our commitment to restore wetlands. This bill is consistent with California’s 30x30 goal and our climate and carbon sequestration goals.
