SB 705:
Ban on Styrofoam containers
Author: Senator Bill Allen
Foam packaging litters our streets, costs taxpayers millions of dollars in clean-up costs, and is the second most common type of debris on California's beaches. This bill would have phased out the use of take-out food containers made of polystyrene (otherwise known as Styrofoam) at food service establishments statewide. More than 100 California cities and counties have successfully banned this material locally, and more local bans will likely continue to pass until the state adopts a uniform policy.
