AB 890:
Strengthening CEQA protections
Author: Assemblymember Jose Medina
Developers of projects with significant environmental impacts are currently able to abuse the initiative process to avoid environmental review. This loophole allows projects to be built without publicly disclosing or mitigating their environmental and public health impacts. AB 890 would have closed this loophole by limiting the use of the voter initiative to effect certain land use actions and restored CEQA's protections to our communities.
