Would have given youth a voice in the democratic process and helped to instill a lifelong habit of voting by providing an opportunity for California’s youth to have a larger role in electing representatives. Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) 4, which required voter approval, became Proposition 18 on the November 2020 General Election ballot and was rejected by voters, would have allowed 17-year-olds to vote in primary elections provided that they turn 18 years of age by the time of the general election.
