SB 1107:
Lifting ban on public financing of elections
Author: Senator Ben Allen
Citizen-funded elections are a practical, proven reform that puts voters in control of democracy, instead of big political donors. SB 1107 (Allen) amends the Political Reform Act of 1974 to lift the state’s ban on public financing of campaigns, allowing cities and the state to empower small donors with matching public funds and giving voters and local leaders the ability to counter the power of big money in politics.
