AB 2316 – Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee

Making Community Solar and Storage Affordable for Low-Income Californians

The current lack of available community renewable energy programs has left many renters, disadvantaged communities, and households who cannot afford to host their own solar panels with few options to access the cost savings and clean air benefits of renewable energy. AB 2316 creates a community renewable energy program that will bring energy bill savings to underserved communities by providing access to solar energy and battery storage; makes the energy grid more reliable, resilient, and clean while improving local air quality; and helps meet the state’s building code requirements, all while creating high-quality, competitive jobs.
