AB 1931 – Assembly Floor
Protecting Californians from Toxic Lead Pipes
Throughout the state, water utilities are doing the important work of replacing toxic, lead drinking water pipes. However, in some cases these replacements are only being partially done. When a lead drinking water line is not fully replaced, partial replacements disturb pipes and expose people to high levels of lead in their drinking water. AB 1931 would have remedied this problem by requiring California water agencies to complete full lead service line replacements, end partial replacements, and immediately put safeguards in place to protect public health.
