Please reach out to thank Speaker Rendon for leading on climate in 2022 — and ask him to continue to prioritize climate justice in 2023!

Speaker Anthony Rendon has made climate a priority over the years and has been a partner to the environmental movement throughout his time in leadership. The Assembly finally passed the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act (SB 54) in 2022 after years of voting it down. Towards the final weeks of the legislative session, leaders in the Assembly like Speaker Rendon pushed for bolder climate ambition in the package of climate bills that ultimately passed and became law. Still, the Speaker can and should have wielded more power to pass the two major climate bills that failed in 2022 by only a few votes: the Climate Corporate Accountability (SB 260) and the bill to accelerate 2030 climate targets (AB 2133). He also had -5% deducted from his score for personally accepting oil money.
