SB 1137

Ending Neighborhood Oil Drilling

More than 2.7 million Californians live within 3,200 feet of an operational oil or gas well, exposing them to toxic air pollution, contaminated water, and a long list of serious and life-threatening health problems. SB 1137 protects and prioritizes the health of frontline communities by creating a 3,200-foot health and safety setback between homes, schools, childcare facilities, playgrounds, hospitals, nursing homes, and other sensitive places — and oil and gas wells. The passage of this bill will ultimately put an end to oil drilling in neighborhoods.
